Who we are

At Pyramid Play, we are passionate about helping children in Centre County build a strong foundation in order to reach their fullest potential through compassionate and evidence-based pediatric occupational therapy. Our dedicated team specializes in supporting children of all abilities in developing essential life skills, from fine motor coordination, sensory processing and feeding to self-care and social engagement. We believe in a child-centered, family-focused approach that empowers both children and their caregivers. Through play, creativity, and individualized therapy, we strive to build confidence, independence, and a brighter future for every child we serve.

Chelsie Straub MOTR/L

Chelsie is Co-Owner of Vital Rehab and Wellness, and founder of Pyramid Play. She graduated from Saint Francis University in 2016 with her minor in Exercise Physiology, a Bachelors in Psychology, Bachelors in Health Science, and Masters of Occupational Therapy. Though a bit rusty now, she did complete her minor in American Sign Language as well. She has experience in the school setting, has spent the majority of her career in inpatient rehabilitation and currently mobile outpatient therapies. Chelsie has thrived in providing therapies to those with neurological diagnoses and regaining lost skills through rehab and adaptations. She is currently in the process of earning her certification in primitive reflex integration and is looking forward to adding these skills to her toolbox.

“Ever since my husband, Mitchell, and I started Vital Rehab and Wellness therapies for older adults in 2021 I have dreamed of expanding to the pediatric population. I have had a long desire to work with children for many years but couldn’t find what I was looking for here in State College. After I had my son in 2022, that fire inside me burned even brighter knowing that resources for moms (and dads!) were limited. So, I’m here to finally create them through Pyramid Play!

Despite the trials and tribulations of motherhood I really love watching my son grow and change over time no matter how bitter sweet it is. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, and doing our best to make time feel slow and precious. I love a good audiobook or podcast, writing and creating!”

Bethany Miller MOTR/L

Bethany graduated from Saint Francis University in 2020 with her Bachelors in Health Science, with concentration in American Sign Language as well as Masters of Occupational Therapy. She has experience in the school setting and outpatient pediatrics since graduating. She is Beckman Oral Motor certified and has Feed the Peds continuing education. Bethany has successfully transitioned a client from G-tube to eating solids by improving oral motor skills. She also successfully helped a client obtain the OBI robot feeder for a young girl with limited arm mobility so she could eat/feed herself independently at home and school!

“I enjoy working in pediatrics because I want to make a difference in not only a child’s life, but in the lives of their family members. It is exciting and humbling helping a child master a new skill, have positive experiences with new foods, and learn to regulate their sensory systems independently.

I enjoy being a mom to the sweetest yet stubborn baby boy, spending time with my family, reading, and snuggling with my dogs! Watching my son grow is truly my greatest joy in life. I also love cooking and baking, which I think contributes to my love for sensory based feeding in pediatrics!”
